How to Install the Homebrew Channel

Things you will need are: an SD card of 2 GB or less, an SD card converter, and a Wii (any version works). I will be referring to the Homebrew Channel as the HC

   1. Download and extract the files above that matches your Wii version (3.0 - 4.1, or 4.2) into your SD card.

   2. (Wii version 3.0 - 4.1 owners) Go to the Wii data management settings and choose channels. Something will pop up, just say yes to everything, and choose install HC. Once that is done you will have the HC installed!

  2. (Wii version 4.2 owners) Go to the SD card loader on the Wii menu. Install the thing that is there, and say yes and that you want to install the HC. Once that is done you will have the HC installed!

How to Use the Homebrew Channel

Once you have intalled the HC, you need to put some stuff on it. The HC is basically a way to download apps on your Wii. Now, besides popping bubbles, there isn't much to do on it, so you can use the Homebrew Browser in order to install more apps for your HC. Once you have loaded it, you will have a huge selection of media, games, utilities, emulators, and demos that you can download for free!

When you choose something to download it well show the rating, the downloads, the maker, a description, and the controllers you can use. Once you have downloaded some stuff you want (I suggest a game called powder), then you can press the home button on your Wii remote and return to the main HC/loader. Then you can start up the game that you downloaded (my example is powder) and choose load. Now you can play your game! (please keep in mind the type of controllers you can use)

How to Edit your Animal Crossing Town

The things you need are: a 2 GB SD card, an SD card converter, and the Homebrew Channel, along with internet connection for your Wii. I will be referring to the Homebrew Channel as HC, and Animal Crossing City Folk as AC

Step 1: Using the HC, download the savegame installer and savegame extractor utilities from the Homebrew browser.

Step 2: Go back to the Wii menu. Put your AC game disk in and then wait until it loads on the disk channel. Once it does, go back to the  the savegame extractor and load it. Once it starts up, press the reset button on your Wii (The Wii remote doesn't work in the savegame extractor or installer), wait until it says a whole bunch of stuff, and then it all goes away after saying OK. Once you have done that, press the power button.

Step 3: Take your SD card out of your Wii, put it in your SD card converter, and plug it into your computer. Then, download the file above called actoolkit_v1.3.zip. Save and extract it somewhere easy to find. Go to your SD card, and copy the file called WIISAVES somewhere you can find it. (We do this as a backup file, just in case you do something wrong on your AC town) Start up the ACToolkit. Choose the file in your SD card called WIISAVES, then choose the file called RVFOREST.

Step 4: One you have chosen that file called RVFOREST, a screen will pop up. It's pretty easy to use, you can edit your characters stuff, and do other stuff. There is a complete walkthrough on the ACToolkit v1.3 on the next page of my website.

P.S. I am not responsible for anything that you might do to your AC town or game.

Step 5: Once you have done the changes you want to your town, choose the File button on the top left of the ACtoolkit and choose save. Then put your SD card into the Wii, and put your AC disk in. Go to data management, and delete your old AC save data. Then go back to the Wii menu, and wait until the Disk channel loads your AC disk. Go to the HC and load the savegame installer app. Press the Reset button on your Wii, and wait until it says OK, and everything disappears, then press the Power button on your Wii. It will restart, and you can play your edited AC town!

Troubleshooting: If it said error when you were trying to extract or install your animal crossing savegame, then you either did not wait for the AC game disk to load, or you do not have a 2 GB or less SD card. SD cards with more than 2 GB do not work with Homebrew like they should.
